Beyond the inline findings, I also checked the value_is_next_arg extraction from src/clap/streaming.rs into src/clap/lib.rs — the three branches (options, flags/no- prefix, prefixes) keep the same order, polarity and !flags.is_empty() gate, so the bun install foreign-flag path is unchanged; and loaded_lockfile_name / overrides_field still have live callers after the frozen-override error path was deleted, so nothing was left dead there.
Extended reasoning...
The change touches bun install frozen-lockfile handling, bunx flag skipping, 1.4-era lockfile diffing, node:fs realpath on Linux and http2 teardown, with no security-sensitive surface beyond registry-URL flag handling already covered inline. Ten confirmed findings were posted inline and the hunt stopped at its bug cap rather than running dry, so approval is not on the table; this note only records what was additionally examined and found behavior-preserving.
Findings marked 🟡 are optional suggestions and need no follow-up push.

… path stop linking a workspace; realpath: ENOENT for any removed directory
- A bun.lockb from Bun 1.4 whose root has an optional peer with a workspace's name still failed `--frozen-lockfile`. There the entry that has the range is a required peer, next to an optional `*` one. bun.lock marks both optional, so only that format was accepted.
- A root `file:` path to a workspace's folder kept its `workspace:` entry after the folder left `workspaces` or the workspace was renamed. The frozen install then passed on a stale lockfile, or failed on the lockfile that `bun install` had just saved. The link is now kept only while both sides have that workspace at that folder.
- `fs.realpath.native(".")` in a removed directory threw ENAMETOOLONG for a long name, and EACCES below an unreadable parent. Node throws ENOENT. A removed file has no links, so the check no longer looks the path up.

packages/bun-usockets/src/quic.c— Pre-existing: an HTTP/3 response or request whose header fields total more than 65535 bytes is sent with wrong names and values (or trips an assert in debug), while the client now tells servers it accepts up to 256 KiB. In us_quic_stream_send_headers at quic.c:1193 every field's absolute offsetoffinto one flat buffer is handed to lsxpack_header_set_offset2, whose offset fields are 16-bit lsxpack_strlen_t, so past 64 KiB they wrap. Fix: give each lsxpack_header its own base pointer (buf + off, offsets 0 and name_len), as Http2Context.h:1103 already does for HTTP/2; the same flat-buffer pattern is at node_quic_shim.c:323.Why this was flagged
A Bun.serve({ http3: true }) handler returns a Response whose headers total more than 65535 bytes of names plus values (for example 7,000 set-cookie fields, or a few 20 KiB values), or a fetch over HTTP/3 sends request headers of that size; both go through Http3Response.h:212 / Stream.rs:104 into…
Verification: Pre-existing (the base fails by the same route; the PR only raises the client's advertised limit to 256 KiB at quic.c:1379). Trigger: HTTP/3 headers totalling more than 65535 bytes. In quic.c:1188-1200
size_t offis passed as the absolute offset to lsxpack_header_set_offset2, whose 16-bit fields wrap past 65535, so the wire carries wrong names/values. Both callers, Http3Response.h:206-213 and encode.rs:61-115, add no size cap.

What does this PR do?
Fixes regressions since 1.4.3 that are still on

bun install --frozen-lockfileandbun cirefused lockfiles that 1.4.3 wrote, so CI went red on the upgrade with nothing else changed:overrideswhose lockfile has a version that an override doesn't allow. (from tls: consolidate the open TLS fixes (both engines, node:tls, node:https, WebSocket, SQL) #44618)HTTP/3 (
Bun.serve({ http3: true })and thefetchHTTP/3 client): header size limits are now enforced, counted as in RFC 9114 §4.2.2. The server enforces the limit it advertises (--max-http-header-size, 16 KB by default) and answers431to a request over it. The client advertises 64 KB as before, accepts up to 256 KB like the HTTP/2 client, and rejects a larger response withResponseHeadersTooLargewithout disturbing other requests on the connection. A request may have 200 fields, as in HTTP/1.1 and HTTP/2. A header name or value over 65,535 bytes was sent cut short, with no error. Nowfetchrejects withHTTP3HeaderEncodingError, and aBun.serveresponse whose headers can't be sent resets its stream, where a response with more than 64 KB of encoded headers left the request hanging.node:quicreports such a failure too.fetchno longer sends a POST or PATCH a second time once it was written and its stream closed before the response headers: it rejects withHTTP3StreamReset.
