✅ Before You Begin

• ✔️ Ensure you meet the System Requirements.
• 💻 For VM Installations: Make sure the VM is correctly created.
• 🖥️ For SNS Appliances: Set up CIMC and BIOS using appropriate hardware guides:
  • SNS-3600 Series Guide
  • SNS-3700 Series Guide

⚙️ Installation Procedure

Step 1: Prepare Hardware or VM

• SNS Appliance: Connect to CIMC for server management.
• Virtual Machine: Verify proper VM configuration.

Step 2: Download ISO

• 🔗 Download Cisco ISE (No Cisco login required)
• 🚀 90-day evaluation license included.

Step 3: Boot the System

On SNS Appliance:

1. Connect to CIMC.
2. Launch KVM Console.
3. Go to Virtual Media > Map CD/DVD and select the ISO.
4. Boot with Ctrl-Alt-Del, then press F6 to access boot menu.

⏳ Note: Use a USB ISO in remote setups for faster install. Installation time varies by method.

On VM:

• Map the ISO to CD/DVD drive and boot.
• Choose Keyboard/Monitor installation for GUI.

🚀 Run the Setup Program

Step 4: Begin Setup

At the boot prompt:

• Press 1 for serial console, or
• Select Keyboard/Monitor with arrow keys.

Wait for:

Please type 'setup' to configure the appliance

Step 5: Enter Setup

At the prompt:

setup

Fill in parameters (sample below):

(eth0) IP Address	10.12.13.14
Netmask	255.255.255.0
Default Gateway	10.12.13.1
DNS Domain Name	example.com
Primary Name Server	10.15.20.25
NTP Server	clock.nist.gov

⚠️ Avoid $ in passwords unless it's the last character.

🔍 Verify Installation

Step 1: Log In

Username: <your_admin_username>
Password: <your_password>

Step 2: Check ISE Application

ise/admin# show application
ise   Cisco Identity Services Engine

Step 3: Verify Process Status

ise/admin# show application status ise

Look for running status on key services like:

• Database Server
• Application Server
• M&T Session Database
• Certificate Authority Service

📁 Install Cisco ISE via NFS (SNS Appliance)

Step-by-Step

1. Download ISO from Cisco ISE Download.
2. Connect to CIMC, login.
3. Go to: Compute > Remote Management > Virtual Media > Add New Mapping.
4. Fill in NFS server details, click Save.
5. Status should show as OK.
6. Launch KVM Console.
7. Power cycle system: Power > Power Cycle System.
8. Press F6 → Select UEFI: Cisco CIMC-Mapped vDVD2.00.
9. Choose: Cisco ISE Installation (Keyboard/Monitor).

• Installation time reduced from 5–7 hrs to ~1–2 hrs.
