From 0.3.2854 strange error "Unfortunately we don't ship binaries for your platform yet"

After upgrading to 0.3.2854 I'm getting:

Unfortunately we don't ship binaries for your platform yet. You need to manually clone the rust-analyzer repository and run `cargo xtask install --server` to build the language server from sources. If you feel that your platform should be supported, please create an issue about that [here](https://github.com/rust-lang/rust-analyzer/issues) and we will consider it.

I'm on Windows 11, AMD64.

Can you try to reinstall your extension?

I tried. Nothing. 2845 works. Note 45 not 54.

It should work. Can you pick at it a bit more? Maybe restart Code after uninstalling it or delete the installed files?

It works now but I had to manually delete the extension files and reinstall it.

I have the same issue and deleting the extension files did not fix it. However, I did notice that my VSCode automatically selected rust-lang.rust-analyzer-0.3.2845-win32-x64 for the previous version(s), and rust-lang.rust-analyzer-0.3.2854 for the current one. Does that mean that VSCode switches windows users to the all-platforms version which then gives the above error?

Try again. It works now. Delete. Then uninstall. The install again 54. It works now.

Yes, it looks like Code switches to the new VSIX for existing installs, while it won't pick it on a fresh install.

One question: did your install predate end of 2021, when we started publishing multiple VSIXes?

Now I have "rust-lang.rust-analyzer-0.3.2854-win32-x64". Can you please better explain what is the difference?

The one with win32 is platform-specific and contains a server binary. The one without is generic and does not contain a binary, therefore it can't activate.
