Why I made this curriculum

Many experienced technical communicators are already working with or adjacent to AI systems. They write developer documentation, design information architecture, build documentation tooling, and think deeply about context: all critical skills for success with AI. As the technical landscape evolves at an unprecedented pace, many professionals haven't had the time or space to develop a broad mental model of the modern AI ecosystem—or connect that ecosystem back to the skills they already have.

This curriculum exists to bridge that gap.

It isn't a machine learning course or another collection of prompt tips. It's a practical, project-based roadmap for technical writers, developer educators, documentation engineers, and other technical communicators who want to refine their fluency in modern AI.

Each module introduces one core capability. Each lab produces a tangible artifact. Each project becomes part of a public portfolio. By building real systems, you'll develop fluency across the modern AI ecosystem, connecting concepts like retrieval, context, tools, agents, evaluation, and product engineering into a cohesive mental model.

The goal? Understand how the pieces fit together, speak confidently about the tradeoffs, and apply your existing strengths as a technical communicator to the next generation of software development.
