HYDRO-GUARD is an autonomous fire-response system designed to detect fire, identify its location, communicate the incident, autonomously navigate a firefighting vehicle to the affected area, initiate fire suppression, and provide real-time monitoring through an IoT-enabled control system.
The system combines embedded systems, robotics, wireless communication, intelligent navigation, IoT, and real-time monitoring into a single fire-response ecosystem.
Traditional fire detection systems primarily focus on detecting and alerting users about a fire.
The major challenge begins after detection:
- How quickly can the fire location be identified?
- How can a response unit reach the affected area?
- How can obstacles be handled during navigation?
- How can multiple fire zones and response vehicles be managed?
- How can the entire operation be monitored remotely?
HYDRO-GUARD addresses these challenges by combining automated detection with autonomous response and intelligent navigation.
HYDRO-GUARD consists of two primary components:
- Fire Detection Unit
- Autonomous Firefighting Vehicle – Agni-Baan
The Detection Unit continuously monitors the environment using flame and smoke/gas sensors.
When a fire event is detected, the system processes the sensor data, identifies the affected zone/location, and transmits the event information to the firefighting system.
The Agni-Baan firefighting vehicle receives the event, determines the target location, navigates toward it while avoiding obstacles, and activates the suppression mechanism when it reaches the target area.
