TermRover version
1.0.10 (Play Store now lists v1.1.0, Sep 9 2026 — will retest after updating)
OS version
Android (exact version TBD — reporter to confirm in a comment)
Device
TBD — reporter to confirm in a comment
tmux version (if relevant)
N/A — reproduces in a plain shell with no multiplexer attached, and in herdr
Steps to reproduce
- On Android with Microsoft SwiftKey as the input method, open TermRover and connect to a host over SSH (plain shell, no tmux/herdr attached).
- Tap the terminal to bring up SwiftKey (suggestion/autocomplete strip visible).
- Type letters. Often nothing appears; backspace also does nothing; the session looks hung. Other times the same keys work, even with autocomplete off — it is random.
- Tap a Quick Row special key such as Tab — it works while character keys do not.
- Repeat over Mosh — same random dead input.
- Switch input method to Gboard (no suggestion strip appears inside TermRover) — typing works reliably. Gboard autocomplete still works in other apps.
- Control: the same SwiftKey types fine in HqSSH to the same host.
What you expected vs. what happened
Expected: every SwiftKey keypress sends the character, like Gboard and like HqSSH.
Happened: with SwiftKey, character keys randomly produce nothing (no chars, backspace dead, looks hung) while Tab/special keys work. Same on SSH and Mosh, in plain shell and in herdr. Looks like SwiftKey holds text in composing/predictive state despite the terminal no-suggestions request — Gboard respects it (hence no strip and working input), SwiftKey does not. Same bug class as Termux #1539 and the Termius 7.2.5 GBoard input fix.
Logs, screenshots, or anything else
No logs captured. Happy to retest on v1.1.0 and provide SwiftKey version + screen recording on request.
