Summary

A zoom pill shows the hold, while its moves in and out run outside it, so a trim placed next to a zoom silently makes the export jump. This is the agent and MCP half of #1028:

  • zoomTransitions and transitionCutsMs in src/lib/ai-edition/timeline/zoom-transitions.ts, speed-aware through a new inverse screen clock, timelineTimeMs (mirrors ScreenClock::source_at).
  • getCurrentDocument gives each zoom zoomInFromSec, zoomOutUntilSec, transitionSec and, when a trim cuts a move, cutByTrim.
  • The zoom and trim writes report cutTransitions (zoom, side, seconds lost) as a warning, never a refusal.
  • The six tool descriptions and the system prompt explain the windows. MCP clients get all of it through the shared executor; openscreen-mcp-server.ts is untouched, so no conflict with feat(mcp): let MCP clients read and edit every project, not only the open one #1040.

The timeline trails, and the Full Camera and chained-pan windows, follow in separate PRs.

Testing

  • New unit tests: zoom-transitions.test.ts, the [Feature]: Show zoom transitions on the timeline and tell the agent and MCP clients about them #1028 block in agent-tools.test.ts (including the issue's trim and speed-region repros) and service.test.ts. With the agent-tools.ts change reverted, 5 of the 6 new agent tests fail (the sixth checks that a trim outside the windows stays quiet).
  • vitest over electron/ai-edition, electron/mcp, src/lib/ai-edition/timeline, src/lib/zoomMath: 692 passed. Both tsc configs and Biome.
  • Not done: a live agent or MCP session.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Zoom timing adapts to playback speed, with transition windows shown in the editing timeline.
    • Trim results identify when a cut shortens a zoom-in or zoom-out transition, including the affected side and duration.
    • AI editing guidance explains zoom timing and reports newly cut transitions as warnings.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Zoom transition timing is clamped at the start of the timeline and accounts for overlapping speed changes.

A zoom pill shows the hold; its moves in and out run outside it. zoomTransitions converts them to timeline ms through the speed-aware screen clock (with timelineTimeMs, the inverse of screenTimeMs, mirroring ScreenClock::source_at), and transitionCutsMs measures what trims cut off them.
…ns are (#1028)

getCurrentDocument gives each zoom zoomInFromSec, zoomOutUntilSec, transitionSec and, when a trim cuts a move, cutByTrim. addZoom/setZoom/addTrim/setTrim (and their batches) report cutTransitions when the edit newly cuts one: a warning, never a refusal. The six tool descriptions explain the windows and the system prompt asks to leave them untrimmed. MCP clients get all of it through the shared executor and descriptions.

The change adds speed-aware zoom transition calculations and trim-cut detection. AI editing snapshots expose transition timing and cut status. Trim and zoom writes report newly introduced cuts. Agent guidance and architecture documentation describe these fields and warnings.

Layer / File(s) Summary
Speed-aware transition calculation
src/lib/ai-edition/timeline/speed.ts, src/lib/ai-edition/timeline/zoom-transitions.ts, src/lib/ai-edition/timeline/zoom-transitions.test.ts
Adds timeline-time inversion, calculates zoom transition bounds across speed regions, and measures trim cuts. Tests cover timing, speed regions, and cut cases.
Zoom snapshots and edit results
electron/ai-edition/agent-tools.ts, electron/ai-edition/agent-tools.test.ts
Zoom snapshots include transition bounds, duration, and trim-cut status. Trim and zoom writes report newly introduced transition cuts. Tests cover snapshots, warnings, and speed-stretched windows.
Agent guidance and tool descriptions
electron/ai-edition/deep-agent/service.ts, electron/ai-edition/deep-agent/service.test.ts, technical-documentation/architecture/ai-agent.md
The prompt and tool descriptions explain transition timing and the non-blocking cutTransitions warning. Architecture documentation describes the snapshot fields and warning.

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to c600d

This change adds zoom transition timing to the agent's snapshot and to trim and zoom write results. The behavior is informational and non-blocking, and the reported unit tests cover the main cases. No actionable merge risk remains. A live agent or MCP session was not tested.

Review comments at @electron/ai-edition/agent-tools.ts:
- Around line 732-735: Update the trim-to-span mapping around trimToTimelineSpan
so legacy trims without clipId are evaluated against every applicable clip, not
just the first matching span. Preserve clip-specific trim behavior, and include
each resulting span when calculating cuts so zooms on affected clips receive
cutByTrim and cutTransitions warnings.

Review comments at @electron/ai-edition/deep-agent/service.ts:
- Line 148: Update the zoom transition guidance in service.ts at lines 148-148
to clarify that speed can shorten or extend the timeline window for a move of
fixed screen-time duration. Update the snapshot note in agent-tools.ts at lines
816-817 to match and direct the agent to use the calculated transition bounds;
no direct change is required at either site beyond these note updates.
