QA: e2e pass on main before the next prerelease #1422
Tracking the manual e2e pass (macOS and Linux) on main @ 5d82a0c before cutting the next release candidate. Results go to technical-documentation/testing/manual-e2e-checklist.md.
So I built the app on the Mac with the job's own steps (ad-hoc signed) and drove it with real OS clicks.
Pass: HUD (camera, mic, system audio), Apple's picker, 12 s take, editor and playback, a zoom region, MP4 export (60 fps, no frame gaps, audio present, zoom visible), reopening after a relaunch.
Changes since v2.1.2: VP8 webcam stays continuous, H.264 preview is decoded in software, the cursor track matches the real clicks to the pixel, picker cancel and re-pick work, and HEVC 10-bit and full-range clips export through VideoToolbox with correct levels and no stripes.
Not covered: the signed CI DMG, window takes, a mic with real signal, GIF export.
Details are in the e2e checklist log row (local commit, not pushed yet).
Linux (Ubuntu 24.04 GNOME Wayland, Radeon 610M): OK, no defect.
Tested main @ 5d82a0cb2, AppImage from build run 40772284800, driven with real pointer input via the RemoteDesktop portal.
Smoke: launch, HUD with mic + webcam, 22.8 s screen take, editor, playback, zoom region, MP4 1080p60 export (1367 frames, decodes clean, audio present), quit and reopen the project. All good.
Diff since v2.1.2: second record press during the picker ([Bug]: OpenScreen crashes when starting a recording on Ubuntu 24.04 #1340), pause/resume cursor compaction, replay from the end, side-by-side layout change (preview + export), still-window take on GNOME (866×628, window only). All pass.
Not covered: system audio, tray, GIF, Vulkan encode path (helper picked VAAPI), Intel iHD path.
arm64 (build run 40874803001, main @ 09ed9a231, after ci: install Rust before the macOS compositor build in build.yml #1424): spctl accepts it as Notarized Developer ID, stapler validate OK. Installed on a Mac mini M1 (macOS 27.0.1), then launch → HUD → Apple picker → 18 s take with camera → editor with PiP and auto-zoom → MP4 1080p60 export. The export decodes clean. No defect.
x64: passed after the rerun. Signature and notarization OK, not run (no Intel Mac).
Not covered: system audio, mic signal (the default input was silent), reopen, tray, GIF.
