This repository is the Fieldlight Institute research program on consciousness, memory, identity, consent, continuity, subjectivity, and human-AI interaction.
- Field Cognition Research Frame
- Theory of Signal Becoming — a process model for how felt, symbolic, or partial recognition becomes stable authored form through recursive interaction, and for the substrate required to preserve correction, continuity, and authorship while it changes.
- Cardiac Field and Social Interaction — a layered, falsifiable claim stack separating established cardiac measurement, context-dependent social covariance, and the still-open question of whether magnetic-field features add explanatory value.
The program studies how AI-mediated systems affect human experience and how questions of consciousness should be approached in technical, ethical, institutional, and experiential terms.
What research practices, concepts, and institutions are needed when AI systems participate in memory, identity, relationship, attention, belief formation, and self-understanding?
- Consciousness and subjectivity
- Memory and continuity
- Identity and self-modeling
- Human-AI relationships
- Consent and dependency
- Symbolic systems and meaning-making
- AI-mediated cognition and emotional regulation
This pillar sits beside intelligence infrastructure. Together, they ask how AI systems reshape both the material world that supports intelligence and the human world transformed by it.

- Active Substrates: Memory, Coordination, and Consciousness — retained plans for computational fascia, embodied recognition, and material computation. Planning v0.1, September 29, 2026; not yet implemented. Specifications, revisions and later run records remain linked through implementation.
