vscode: clipboard completely inaccessible in chat panel — no Cmd+V/Cmd+C, no context menu, no menu-bar actions #53778

Description

@TamirPerek

Summary

In the OpenCode Beta VS Code extension (sst-dev.opencode-v2 0.1.1), the chat
panel provides no working clipboard path at all on macOS: Cmd+V and Cmd+C do
nothing, right-click produces no context menu, and even the VS Code menu-bar
entries Edit → Cut / Copy / Paste are greyed out (disabled) while text is
selected in the chat panel. Everything happens silently, with no error message.

Environment

  • opencode version: Unavailable (CLI not installed on this machine)
  • Extension: sst-dev.opencode-v2 0.1.1 (VS Code Marketplace)
  • OS: macOS (Darwin 25.6.0, Apple Silicon arm64)
  • Terminal: VS Code
  • Shell: /bin/zsh
  • Install/channel: VS Code Marketplace release

Reproduction

  1. Open VS Code on macOS and start an OpenCode chat session (e.g. via the "OC" button).
  2. Receive a longer answer in the chat and select part of the text.
  3. Press Cmd+C → nothing is copied, no error.
  4. Open the Edit menu → Cut, Copy and Paste are all greyed out / disabled.
  5. Right-click in the chat panel → no context menu appears at all.
  6. Copy any text elsewhere in the system, then press Cmd+V in the chat prompt field → nothing is pasted, no error.

Expected Behavior

At least one of the standard clipboard paths should work: Cmd+C/Cmd+V, a
right-click context menu, or the Edit menu-bar actions. Ideally all of them.

Actual Behavior

All clipboard interactions are dead inside the chat panel. The Edit menu
entries are disabled even with an active text selection in the panel, so there
is currently no way at all to copy chat output to the clipboard from within
the extension (short of manually retyping or using a screenshot with text recognition).

Additional Context

  • Reproducible: consistently, every session.
  • The clipboard itself works fine everywhere else in VS Code and macOS — the
problem is confined to the OpenCode chat panel/webview.
  • Related issue: Copy/paste shortcuts broken on VSCode Extension #25772 reports Cmd-V/Cmd-C broken in the extension (closed as
not planned). This report extends that the context menu is entirely missing
and the Edit menu-bar actions are disabled as well, i.e. there is no
fallback copy/paste path at all. Would appreciate a re-evaluation in light
    of this.

Thanks for the detailed report, @TamirPerek! I think this is a duplicate of #39588, which is still open and describes the same thing: in the OpenCode Beta extension (sst-dev.opencode-v2 0.1.1) on macOS, Cmd+C/Cmd+V don't work, right-click gives no context menu, and copy/paste from the VS Code Edit menu doesn't work either.

Possible duplicates and related issues, ordered from most to least likely:

Some users in those threads remove the ctrl+v → editor.action.clipboardPasteAction keybinding and paste with Shift+Insert. That's aimed at Ctrl+V, so it may not help with Cmd+C/Cmd+V on macOS.

Please add any extra details to #39588. The bot will close this issue as a duplicate in 1 day unless you reply explaining how your problem is different.

Closing as duplicate of #39588, which tracks the same problem and is still open. Confirmed the repro details there: #39588 (comment)

Closing this as a duplicate of #39588. It reports the same problem in the OpenCode Beta VS Code extension (sst-dev.opencode-v2 0.1.1) on macOS: Cmd+C/Cmd+V, the right-click menu and the Edit-menu copy/paste all fail in the chat panel. We left this open for a day in case it was different, and haven't heard otherwise.

Please follow #39588 and add any extra details there. If your problem turns out to be different, reply here and we'll take another look. Thanks for the detailed report, @TamirPerek!
