Description
The Linux AppImage ships its main ELF executable (~210 MB) named ai.opencode.desktop, with the real desktop entry alongside it as ai.opencode.desktop.desktop. Because the filename ends in .desktop, any .desktop-scanner treats the ELF as a desktop file:
- KDE Plasma:
KConfigIni: In file /tmp/.mount_*/ai.opencode.desktop, line NNN: Invalid entry (missing '=') spams the journal on every launch.
- AppImageLauncher / libappimage: when resolving the
.desktop entry inside the AppImage it globs *.desktop, picks ai.opencode.desktop (the ELF), hits the ELF magic byte 0x7F and fails: ERROR: appimage_register_in_system : Malformed desktop entry: Unexpected char '\x7f' at 0 (also appimage_is_terminal_app() / appimage_shall_not_be_integrated() returning -1). One launch then ended in a failed systemd user unit (Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE).
Renaming the executable so it does not end with .desktop (e.g. ai.opencode or ai.opencode-desktop, and updating Exec=, Icon=, StartupWMClass= accordingly) fixes both symptoms in one change.

Plugins
None (packaging/launch bug, unaffected by plugins)
OpenCode version
2.0.6 (Desktop AppImage); bundled CLI v2.0.18
Steps to reproduce
- Run
opencode-desktop-linux-x86_64.AppImage (v2.0.6) on KDE Plasma.
- Watch the journal:
journalctl --user -f | grep -E 'KConfigIni|appimage' — observe repeated KConfigIni ... /tmp/.mount_*/ai.opencode.desktop ... Invalid entry (missing '=') lines plus AppImageLauncher Unexpected char '' at 0 failures.
- Extract the AppImage:
./opencode-desktop-linux-x86_64.AppImage --appimage-extract
- Inspect
*.desktop matches: find squashfs-root -name "*.desktop" -exec file {} \; — ai.opencode.desktop is an ELF executable; only ai.opencode.desktop.desktop is a text desktop entry.
