After @vpirogov confirmed the issue and pointed me in the direction of it being hallucinated instructions, I went looking for these and could not find them referenced anywhere (for example https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/docs/intrinsics-guide/index.html), so this PR removes that whole chunk of code and inlines the working path.
