+## Overview
+The Milestones Board search functionality allows users to quickly search and filter milestones by title, description, status, and payout values without introducing wasteful execution or rendering race conditions.
+
+## Architectural Highlights
+
+### 1. Debounced Query Dispatching
+- **Debounce Timer**: Configurable debounce period (default: 300ms) pauses execution during rapid keystrokes.
+- **Immediate Input Mirroring**: Search input is fully responsive to user keystrokes without lag, while backend/repository queries are batched until typing ceases.
+
+### 2. Request Cancellation & Superceded Response Protection
+- **`AbortController` Integration**: Any pending in-flight asynchronous search operation is immediately aborted (`signal.abort()`) when a newer search begins or when the search input is cleared.
+- **Monotonic Request Sequence Tokens**: Every search request receives an auto-incrementing integer token (`requestIdRef.current`). Even if a previous asynchronous request finishes out of order (fast-then-slow response anomaly), the hook rejects any response whose token does not match the latest dispatched request ID.
+- **Fast Input Clearing**: Clearing the query immediately cancels any in-flight searches, resets the results array to the full milestone collection, and transitions the state machine back to `'idle'`.
