The Socket warning is about a license not in our approved list: "HIDAPI", used by the hidapi C library bundled in node-hid. It's a permissive open-source license, and main already ships it via node-hid@2.1.2, so I think it can be ignored
Next steps: Take a moment to review the security alert above. Review
the linked package source code to understand the potential risk. Ensure the
package is not malicious before proceeding. If you're unsure how to proceed,
reach out to your security team or ask the Socket team for help at
support@socket.dev.
Suggestion: Find a package that does not violate your license policy or adjust your policy to allow this package's license.
Mark the package as acceptable risk. To ignore this alert only
in this pull request, reply with the comment
@SocketSecurity ignore npm/node-hid@3.4.0. You can

close() can return while #deviceFactory is still opening a session. At that point #device is undefined, so this reset does nothing; the opening request later assigns and closes the device in #initExclusive, but callers that already awaited close() can still have live discovery/session resources and a process that has not exited. Synchronize closure with in-progress initialization (while still waking retry waits first) so close() resolves only after any late session has been released.
Validate surrogate pairs in EIP-712 keys and type metadata
The surrogate check only walks domain and message values. It never checks their property names, primaryType, type names, or the name/type strings in types, so malformed UTF-16 can still reach signing through an EIP-712 field/type name even though this validator is intended to reject text that cannot be encoded losslessly. Include keys and all type metadata in the traversal before signing.
Update guidance to reflect the new DMK connection flow
This guidance is stale with the new DMK flow: the signer opens the Ethereum app itself, and connection setup only requires finding an unlocked device. Telling users to open the app conflicts with the updated retry messaging and can send them troubleshooting the wrong condition.
