Features

  Highlights

  • External Wallet Support: Added support for channel funding via hardware wallets and multisig setups through new external signing RPCs
  • Standalone CCH: The Cross-Chain Hub can now run as its own process, connecting to nodes via HTTP and WebSockets for better architectural flexibility
  • New Fiber CLI: A dedicated command-line tool (fiber-cli) is now available, featuring colorized output and auto-generated subcommands for easier node management

• CCH Planning: Published the [Fiber CCH Summary and Future Plan](Fiber CCH Summary and Future Plan #1243), outlining the paths for cross-chain hubs and multi-asset swap designs.

Improvements & Fixes

• Network Actor Refactoring: Continued refactoring the network actor hot path by decoupling tasks from the network actor to the channel actor in [#1217](channel: keep actors alive across disconnects #1217).

  This is intended to reduce the network actor bottleneck and improve scalability. Follow-up work will continue once this PR is merged.

• P2P Gossip Protection: Introduced banning and rate limiting for the P2P gossip protocol in [#1263]( Add gossip ban and rate limit policy #1263), including:

  • in-memory gossip scoring
  • 10-minute temporary bans for non-channel peers
  • rate limits for outbound bytes
  • rate limits for inbound channel updates

• OOM Fix: Fixed an out-of-memory issue in [#1261](fix: push limit to DB layer in list_payments to avoid unbounded memory usage #1261).

• UDT Channel Funding Fix: Fixed stuck funding for UDT channels in [#1253](fix: abort funding immediately on insufficient UDT cells #1253).

• Settlement State Sync: Synced on-chain settlement status back to off-chain state in [#1254](feat: handle on-chain TLC settlement for force-closed channels #1254), improving consistency between on-chain settlement progress and off-chain channel state.

• Development & Review: Continued Fiber development and PR review work, including [#1244](feat: add official Docker image support #1244) and [#1241](fix: replace magic number with constant for secp sighash placeholder #1241).

In Pipeline

• Network Actor Hot Path: Continue refactoring the network actor hot path to further reduce bottlenecks and improve overall performance.
• Agent Integration: Continue exploring agent and Fiber integration, including research around [issue #1255](Agent / Fiber Integration Solutions Design #1255). Current directions include:
  • x402 + Fiber Facilitator
  • Fiber Native Agent Protocol
• Multi-Asset Swap: Designing and implementing the multi-asset swap described in the [Fiber CCH Summary and Future Plan](Fiber CCH Summary and Future Plan #1243).
