Why might the Mastodon iOS application sometimes quit when performing a search and scrolling down the results?

We noticed that the Mastodon iOS application might quit/crash when we go to the search tab > click on "Search hashtags and users" input field > type "X" > click "Posts matching "X"" > scroll down to the bottom of the list > the list expands to reveal more results > repeat the last 2 steps a few more times.
