* Add 5 resources: AWS Labs MySQL MCP Server, MariaDB Connector/J (Software), Tencent Cloud TDSQL-C for MySQL (SaaS), Severalnines (Services), TiDB Documentation (Books) Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Jscf2E5kEU6FQgZHqMgi8 * Fix logos: Severalnines (white bg) and AWS Labs MySQL MCP Server (real org avatar) The Severalnines logo is now composited onto a white background for consistency with the rest of the catalog. The AWS Labs MCP Server logo was a generic GitHub placeholder (octocat) fetched by mistake — replaced with the real awslabs GitHub org avatar. The TiDB docs cover deploying and operating a TiDB cluster (TiUP, Kubernetes via TiDB Operator, and manual deployment), the SQL language reference, and TiDB's storage and execution architecture (TiKV, PD, TiFlash). A dedicated MySQL-compatibility page documents exactly which parts of the MySQL 5.7/8.0 protocol and syntax TiDB implements and which it doesn't (for example, stored procedures and MySQL's native replication protocol), so teams migrating from MySQL can check feature-by-feature compatibility before cutting over.
23+
24+
Each release line (the `dev` branch and each stable LTS release, currently 8.5) has its own version of the docs, and the migration section covers moving data in from an existing MySQL instance using TiDB's own tooling.

TDSQL-C for MySQL is Tencent Cloud's cloud-native relational database, built with a compute-storage-separated architecture: compute nodes run the database engine while a separate distributed storage layer holds the data files and redo logs, and multiple compute nodes in the same cluster share that single storage layer instead of each holding its own copy. It is compatible with MySQL, so existing MySQL databases, drivers, and tooling work against it without application changes.
19+
20+
Compute is billed as a monthly/yearly subscription, pay-as-you-go, or a Serverless mode metered in compute capacity units (CCUs); storage is billed separately, by the data volume kept, and only once per cluster since it's shared rather than duplicated per node.

Severalnines, the Stockholm-founded company behind ClusterControl, sells its database-automation software with tiered support: a Standard tier included with a subscription (business-hours email support), and an optional Premium tier for production databases that adds 24/7 coverage and an uptime SLA. Architecture review, performance analysis, migration assistance, and product training sit outside the support plans and are delivered separately under a professional-services agreement.
23+
24+
Beyond self-hosted ClusterControl, Severalnines also runs CCX, a fully managed MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL database-as-a-service built on the same ClusterControl engine, where its own team handles deployment, monitoring, and day-to-day operation of the cluster.

AWS Labs' MySQL MCP Server is one of the official servers in the `awslabs/mcp` monorepo, letting MCP clients (such as Amazon Q Developer CLI) convert natural-language requests into SQL and run them against Amazon Aurora MySQL, Amazon RDS for MySQL or MariaDB, or a self-hosted MySQL/MariaDB endpoint. It supports three connection modes — the RDS Data API, the direct MySQL wire protocol, and the wire protocol with IAM authentication — and installs via `uvx` as the `awslabs.mysql-mcp-server` package.
21+
22+
Write queries are disabled by default and only enabled with an explicit `--allow_write_query` flag; the README is explicit that this is "a best-effort SQL-text safeguard, not a security boundary" and recommends pairing it with a least-privilege, read-only database user. The parent `awslabs/mcp` repository is released under the Apache 2.0 license.

MariaDB Connector/J is the official JDBC driver maintained by MariaDB Corporation for connecting Java applications to both MariaDB and MySQL servers. It ships as two supported lines — a 3.5.x branch for Java 8 and a 4.x branch for Java 17+ — and is used as the underlying driver by higher-level frameworks and tools that need JDBC access to MariaDB/MySQL.
18+
19+
It's released under the LGPL 2.1 (or later), developed in the `mariadb-corporation` GitHub organization, with the latest release (3.5.10) published in July 2026.
