No "Remove" option for Collection thumbnails/Representative images #3707

Description

Descriptive summary

Once Collection thumbnail images ('Representative' images) are set, there doesn't seem to be a "Remove" option available, for a user in the Admin UI. The user can pick a different thumbnail image, but they can't go back to "no image". I might be missing something - but as far as I can tell, this is how it's working currently.

This behavior is in the Admin UI > "Edit Digital Collection" page > "Branding" tab.

Here's an example "Edit Digital Collection" page in OD-Staging:
https://staging.oregondigital.org/dashboard/collections/kelpcanopyV2/edit?locale=en#branding

In the "Landing page thumbnails" section, the user can select images to set as the thumbnails to display on the Collection landing page, from the four Scrollable Dropdown/Comboboxes (the "thumbnail slots")

By default, when a new Digital Collection is created, there is no thumbnail set. So there is no value selected in the comboboxes at start.

Once a value (image) is selected, however, I don't see a way to go back to no value selected, using the comboboxes. When I try scrolling through to a blank space in the thumbnails options, the scroll won't land on a blank, it will only allow to select a different image. So there's not a way to select "no image" from within the Combobox.

There's also not a "Remove" button.

Here's the public view of the Collection Landing page for this example - with thumbnails set.

Overall, I don't think this is high-priority or urgent, just submitting this ticket to document the behavior.

However, a reason this might get slight prioritization is that if a bad thumbnail is set for a Collection, it appears that can cause the public Collection landing page to return a 404 error. We discovered this in recent testing in OD-Staging for an earlier V1 of this test collection. The problem was that 1 or more of the images selected as thumbnails/Representative for the Collection were in Works that had problems. Since the Representative images were bad, the Collection page would not load, gave 404 error.

So, for this reason it could be useful to be able to have a Remove option - an easy way to remove thumbnails entirely from a Collection page.
We do have a a current workaround though -- it's not possible to remove all thumbnails, but the user can select a different image (ie pick a known-good image/Work) from the combobox, if possible. Once OK images are selected as thumbnail/'Representative', the Collection landing page will again load OK - but the drawback is that there has to be some thumbnail displayed, you can't go back to no images.

Also, for any of the four "thumbnail slots", once a selection is made, there has to be something in that slot - it's not possible for the user to reset that slot back to no-image. So, if all four "thumbnail slots" have been set to images, you're stuck having four images displayed, as far as I can tell.

Expected behavior

Include in the Admin UI "Edit Digital Collection" page a way for the user to Remove thumbnails selected for display in the Collection landing page.

Ideally, it would be possible to reset each "thumbnail slot" back to "no thumbnail selected"/Remove all thumbnails, so that no Images are set as Representative for the Collection.
