Mailman configuration (non-security issues) #3

@JulianKunkel

Description

@JulianKunkel

This issue tracks the discussion/mailman settings to make for the new list (current settings are listed).

  • Administrators: remove committee@io500.org (cause we have individual names, any request will be send to all of us)
  • A terse phrase identifying this list, at the moment: "IO500 Discussion"
  • Prefix for the list "[IO500 Discuss]"
  • Replace the From: header address with the list's posting address to mitigate issues stemming from the original, that must be changed to reduce SPAM likeliness works best with DMARC.
  • Maximum length in kilobytes (KB) of a message body. Use 0 for no limit. => "40" KB, that can be rather little. Certainly, we should announce it, I had various occasions where emails with long body trails haven't come through but landed in SPAM.
  • Archive messages? => "No" ; I think we should archive the past messages like before. Public would be better (as we discussed before), but then must be clearly indicated to posters that it works that way.
  • Moderation rules, how we moderate them? Set to "Defer" is fine but who/how?
  • Who can view subscription list? => "Subscribers" => Again policy question, should be clear to people that their email is exposed.
