cant login to mastodon instance using appimage

using the appimage on nixos, i can't complete the oauth login for biplus.social.

it opens the web browser to prompt authorization, but gnome won't let me chose the running appimage as a target for the xdg intent dialog when i authorize on the mastodon oauth page.

appimage need to have proper desktop entry in order to make the deeplink works, you can "install" the appimage by using tools like gear lever
